Early in my teens I fell in love with rocks. I set myself a goal to capture the true character of rocks in my art. Since then I have spent countless hours studying rocks and their endless variation as they interact with color, light and shadow.

Wether they play a major or supporting role in our compositions, our rendition of them should always be believable. Understanding their structure and characteristics is the answer to achieving this.

In this workshop I will be sharing what my years of studying rocks has revealed to me and the techniques I have developed to portray those characteristics in my art.

Content:

This workshop consists of two primary sessions and one bonus session. Together, we will complete several smaller studies of rocks, and then complete a painting together, step by step, with rocks as the main subject.

In the live online workshop, we split the second session into two groups. Meaning I completed a painting of the same subject twice. Because these are live recorded sessions, you will find new insights, questions and answers and a new experience of the same subject with the bonus session.
